BBC Four showed a Stax concert recorded in Norway in 1967. It was absolutely superb. YouTube as ever comes to the rescue. These are cut in some odd places, halfway through songs, but it has to be watched. Check out Steve Cropper's face during the first Otis number. Sheer joy!

You can but the whole thing for a fiver via Amazon - you'll never spend a better bluey. It's always worth a rewatch for the spectacular size of Arthur Conley's feet
Here's the AMZ link
Meant to say some other festival funk worth grabbing is Woodstock you can buy the DVD for as little as £3. Sly Stone's Want To Take You Higher is off the sizzleometer it's so hot, and also has an incredible version of Soul Sacrifice from Santana.
Monterey is worth getting via Ebay (sellers based in Singapore do the cheapest but bit strictly legit copies - top quality though) as the box set includes the complete Otis set and it is thumping
Cracking, cracking stuff. Did you see the Story Of Stax doc that was on too?
I didn't realise it was available on DVD; never thought to check!
The Story Of Stax was great too. I've been going through a bit of a low point with Stax of late, but the needle has definitely swung back into favour
I always comes back 2 Stax.
cor blimey - i'm saving this to start the day off right tomorrow. i'm watching that story of stax thing in a minute.
x
You can always grab it from the beeb's iPlayer until Friday, right here, an improvement on youTube.
