Random Play: Rufus & Chaka Khan

Oh I love this song. I forget about it, and then I hear it and fall in love all over again. That lovely little riff, the groove and then The Voice. One of the best and most soulful performances of all time. There are people who think the 80s were plastic and soulless. And yes, there is 80s music that is just that. And then there's this. Lovely.

Ain't Nobody is such an unassailable classic. And, as JC proves, it's the one '80s soul song even people who don't like '80s soul will always like.

Chaka Khan sounds incredibly seductive on that song. Pure sexiness.

Way back then I had this relatively new girlfriend and we both loved this record. We've been married for 22 years now and we kind of think of this as "our song". A classic and no mistaking.

Hi Simon,
Is your photo from Vigelandsparken in Oslo by any chance?
Nice call on both fronts.

Beth, that's exactly where it is. My best mate lives just outside of Oslo; that pics from my last visit.

Thought I recognised the old place. Next time get him to take you to the other Vigeland brother's place, which is much more off the beaten track and well worth seeking out. It's a mental darkened hall full of crazy life/death/skeletons shagging murals. Brilliant.
