Les Petits Visages

Or something.

Some blog tennis with those lovely people Ally and Davy.

I love those Small Faces guys. Steve Marriot is one of my favourite singers ever, and I just love the sound, that crunchy guitar, the solid but swinging rhythm section, and the Hammond organ. And most of all some of my favourite songs from the 60s. All that fuss over the Beatles or The Stones. I love them, but for me Townshend, Davies and Marriot/Lane are the Top Trumps. I wish somebody would work some of that remaster magic on the Small Faces catalogue.

A couple of useless facts. Steve Marriot was born five years later but shared the same birthday as my dear old mum. Who lived next door to the Small Faces in Pimlico. Where I was conceived.
Probably a little too much information eh?

PS: You need an 's' on the end of petit since visages is plural.

B minus - some good work here.

You wouldn't know my dad's first language is French....

I think that was a mistake I made in my French CSE as well...

Is it just me or do both MP3 links go to the same track (GYT)?

And for all you old mods, I should probably repeat that a campaign has started to finally get The Who a UK number 1 single - it's on Facebook here and Twitter here, and urgently needs the oxygen of publicity this blog can help give it.

So excited was I at the prospect of getting The Who to number 1 that I got the FB link wrong in my previous comment (sorry). It should be tinyurl.com/WhosNo1 - cheers.

After the Echoes In The Wind blog was summarily deleted by Google/Blogger a few weeks ago, today I learnt that two other fine blogs, Music Of The Moment and Frisian’s Other Favorites have been zapped. The former has put up a statement on http://restracks.blogspot.com/

Both blogs specialised in old music; Frisians especially in out-of-print vinyl. Hardly a threat to the music industry...

I moved from Blogger to Wordporess in December. It was very easy. At a click of a button, Wordpress moved across all content, including comments. There are shortcomings with Wordpress (no Google Analytics!), but blogs don’t get to be deleted at will as at Blogger. And I’ve experienced higher volumes of traffic since moving, which is nice (and perhaps unrelated).

At the risk of sounding like an alarmist salesman for WP, I’m worried that your great blog might be next (and I’m copying & pasting this message to other Blogger residents, but I do mean you). C’mon, move before Google and The Man zap you!

Yeah, I've been considering it for a while, and now I've got all sorts of changes in the bag I might as well continue that into my online persona...
